Restore Autonomous Database
This topic explains how to restore an Autonomous Database using the Automatic Backup, Long-Term Backup and Point-in-time options.
Restore from Automatic Backup
These are steps to restore your Autonomous Database from an automatic backup using both the Azure portal and OCI console.
Azure Portal
- From the Azure Portal, select Oracle Database@Azure, and then select Oracle Autonomous Database Service.
- From the Oracle Autonomous Database Service list, select your Autonomous Database.
- Expand the Settings section, and then select Backups.
- Select the Restore button. From the dropdown list, select Backup timestamp for the restore and then select the Restore button.
- Navigate back to Overview page to view the details. The State field will change from Restore in progress to Available once the process is complete.
- You will get a notification once the restore completed.
OCI Console
- From the OCI console, select Oracle Database, and then Autonomous Database. Select Backups tab.
- From the Backups tab, select the three-dot navigation menu, and then select the Restore button.
- From the Restore page, enter the database name, and then select the Restore button to confirm the action.
- A warning message will appear to confirm the results of the attempted restore. This action will restore the current database to the selected timestamps. After confirming, select the Restore button.
- Return to the Backups tab within your Autonomous Database to view the state of your restore process. Once the restoring process is complete, the state will change from Restore in Progress to Active.
Clone from Automatic or Long-Term Backup
These are steps to clone your Autonomous Database from an automatic backup or long-term backup using the Azure portal.
Azure Portal
- From the Azure Portal, select Oracle Database@Azure, and then select the Oracle Autonomous Database Service.
- From the Oracle Autonomous Database Service list, select your Autonomous Database that you want to clone.
- Expand the Settings section, and then select Backups.
- Select the Create clone from backup button to start the process.
Note
- You must select Clone form a backup as your Clone source from the Basics tab of flow. For more information, see the Create Automous Database section.
- The Backup timestamp in the list of backup is shown in the timezone of your Azure account while the Backup timestamp in the dropdown menu is displayed in the timezone of the database, which is UTC by default.
- Select the Clone source to Clone from a backup, then select the Backup timestamp to be cloned. Then, fill out the other details as Create Autonomous Database.
- Navigate back to Oracle Autonomous Database Service page to view the details of the database clone. The State field will change from Provisioning to Available once the cloning is complete.
Point-in-Time Restore
These are steps to perform a point-in-time restore in the OCI console.
OCI Console
- From the OCI console, navigate to Autonomous Database, and then select your Autonomous Database from the list.
- From the Autonomous Database information page, select the More actions button and then select the Restore option.
- From the Restore page, select the Enter timestamp button, and then enter your date and time for restoring.
Note
You need to specify a timestamp within the last 60 days to use for the point-in-time restore. - Select the Restore button to apply the changes.
- Navigate back to your Autonomous Database to view the state.
- Once the restore is complete, the state will change from Restore in progress to Available.
