Generating Text to Speech Output

Create text to speech output jobs in the Speech service.

  1. Open the navigation menu and click Analytics & AI. Under AI Services, click Speech.
  2. In the left-side navigation menu, click Text to speech.
  3. Under List scope, select the compartment that you want to work in.
  4. In the Settings section, enter or select values for the following options:
    • Model type: Select Natural for a natural, human sounding voice, or Standard for a machine sounding voice.
    • Language: English is selected by default and is the only language available.
    • Speaker: Select a speaker.
    • Audio format: Select the audio format for the output.
    • Sample rate: Enter the sample rate for the audio output. You can enter a value between 8000 and 48000 hertz.
  5. (Optional) Enable streaming.
  6. (Optional) To use Speech Synthesis Markup Language (SSML) in the text-to-speech request, switch on Enable SSML. Then, select an example, which appears in the Input text area. For information about tags and attributes available for SSML, see SSML Tags.
  7. In the Input text field, enter the text to generate as speech.
  8. Click Generate. Generated speech is shown in the Audio output field.
  9. (Optional) Click Reset to reset the input text and start over.
