Provisioning Oracle Exadata Infrastructure is a time-consuming process, and is the most complex, part of the creation process of an Oracle Exadata System. Creating an Oracle Exadata Infrastructure is a prerequisite for provisioning Oracle Exadata VM Clusters and Oracle Exadata Databases.
Note
You cannot provision an Exadata Infrastructure using an Oracle Cloud Free Tier account. You will have to upgrade your account to provision this.
As a prerequisite, the service limits for the database and storage servers in your tenancy should be sufficient to provision an Exadata Infrastructure with the Exadata system model and configuration of your choice. Request a service limit increase from the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure console if required. Refer to Requesting a Service Limit Increase for more details.
- From the OracleDB for Azure Portal, select the Create a resource icon.
- Select the Create link for Exadata Infrastructure.
Note
Alternatively, you can choose the Create link for the Exadata System from the Create a resouce blade, and the Exadata Infrastructure will be created as part of the combined flow. The combined flow varies, but the fields will be consistent across the two (2) flows.
- Enter Project details for the new Exadata Infrastructure resource:
- Select any Subscription that has been linked to your OCI tenancy through OracleDB for Azure.
If you only have a single subscription, you cannot change the value in this field. If you have multiple subscriptions linked to your OCI tenancy, you can change the default value for this field following the tasks outlined in
Setting Account UI Settings.
- Select a Resource group to place the resource.
- Enter Instance details for the new Exadata Infrastructure resource:
- The Exadata System Name must be unique for your subscription.
An Exadata System name must be between 2 to 64 characters in length, begin with a letter or number, end with a letter, number, or _ (underscore), and may contain only letters, numbers, underscores, periods, or hyphens.
- Choose the Azure Region where you want to provision the Exadata Infrastructure.
If you only have a single region, you cannot change the value in this field. If you have multiple regions assigned, you can change the default value for this field following the tasks in
Setting Account UI Settings.
- Click the Next: Configuration > button to open the Configuration tab.
- Enter the Exadata Infrastructure details:
- Select an Exadata System details from the list.
An
Exadata System model represents the type of Exadata Database machine you want the allocate to this resource. For more information on Exadata system shapes, see
System and Shape Configuration Options.
- Choose the number of Database servers you want to allocate to this Exadata Infrastructure resource. The supported selection range is 2 to 32.
- Choose the number of Storage servers you want to allocate to this Exadata Infrastructure resource. The supported selection range is 3 to 64.
Note
The service limits for the database and storage servers in your tenancy should be sufficient to provision an Oracle Exadata Infrastructure resource with the Exadata system model and configuration of your choice. Request a service limit increase from the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure console if required. Refer to
Requesting a Service Limit Increase for more details.
- Click the Next: Tags > button to open the Tags tab.
Tags are name/value pairs that enable you to categorize resources and view consolidated billing by applying the same tag to multiple resources and resource groups. Refer to
Tagging Overview to know more about tags.
Any tags created here are applied to OCI provisioned resources.
- Click the Next: Review + create > button to open the Review + create tab.
- If any of your Oracle Exadata Infrastructure creation settings are incorrect, you will see a failed validation message. You must correct these error to create an Exadata Infrastructure successfully.
