Release Notes

Notable Changes

The following changes are notable in this image update:

  • Includes OS updates for bug fixes and security patches.

  • Known Issue: Live migrations fail if nested virtualization is enabled.

    Summary: Nested virtualization conflicts with live migration during boot process, preventing live migration features to fail.

    Corrective Action: To correct this issue, Oracle Linux images published after July 31, 2025 are configured with the following setting in /usr/lib/modprobe.d/00-oci-kvm.conf: 

    options kvm enable_virt_at_load=0

    This setting delays the enablement of the nested virtualization function, which means it's no longer active during boot. This change allows live migration to operate as expected. If this setting is changed to a value of 1 then live migrations fail. This issue only affects images using UEK 8 (6.12).

    For images with UEK 8, published before July 31, 2025, to automatically add the correct setting, update the package oci-linux-config and reboot the instance:

    sudo dnf update oci-linux-config
