Database Management Metrics for HeatWave and External MySQL
You can use the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring service to build metric queries to monitor Database Management-enabled HeatWave and External MySQL DB systems and create alarms to be notified when the metrics meet alarm-specified triggers.
- This section provides information on the metrics emitted by Database Management in the
oracle_oci_database
namespace for HeatWave DB systems and attached clusters (resource group:mysql_database
) and External MySQL DB systems (resource group:mysql_external_database
). For information on the metrics emitted by the HeatWave service for HeatWave DB systems in theoci_mysql_database
namespace, see HeatWave Service Metrics. - Database Management only emits metrics
in the
oracle_oci_database
namespace for the primary MySQL instance in the HeatWave DB system. For example, if Database Management is enabled for a HeatWave DB system with secondary instances, it currently only emits metrics for the primary MySQL instance and not for the other instances.
As initial steps, you must review the concepts essential to working with the Monitoring service and obtain the required permissions. For information, see Monitoring Concepts and Details for Monitoring.
Required Permissions
To monitor the metrics for HeatWave and External MySQL DB systems, you must be granted the required type of access in a policy. The policy must grant you access to the monitoring services as well as the resources being monitored. If you try to perform an action and get a message that you do not have permission or are unauthorized, confirm with your administrator the type of access you've been granted and which compartment you should work in. For more information on user authorizations for monitoring, see the Authentication and Authorization section for the related service: Monitoring or Notifications.
For information on the required Database Management permissions, see Permissions Required to Use Database Management.
