Big Data Service OS patch ol7.9-x86_64-1.27.0.697-0.0 and ol7.9-x86_64-1.28.0.700-0.0 now available

These Big Data Service OS patches includes OS package updates to resolve security vulnerabilities on your cluster. The list of package updates can be found in Listing OS Patch Details for a Cluster after the cluster is eligible for applying the patch.

Eligibility criteria: Your cluster is eligible for these OS patch updates only if the following conditions are met:

• The OS version of the cluster is between ol7.9-x86_64-1.19.0.<build-id>-0.0 and ol7.9-x86_64-1.27.0.<build-id>-0.0
  • For clusters on OS version ol7.9-x86_64-1.27.0.<build-id>-0.0, only OS patch ol7.9-x86_64-1.28.0.700-0.0 is available.
  • For clusters that are eligible for several OS patches, the highest version OS patch must be applied. The patching system applies OS patches in sequence at the cluster level.
• The Big Data Service version of the cluster is 3.0.28.1 or later.
• The ODH version of the cluster is on ODH 1.1.13.x or ODH 2.0.9.x
• Meets patching prerequisites as mentioned in Patching in Big Data Service

Impact: OS patch can be applied with Zero/Minimal Downtime (with one AD/FD at a time or Batches of nodes) or with Downtime. For each batch of nodes, the package update happens in-place and the nodes are rebooted (each batch takes around 30 minutes). You can select an option that's best applicable to your environment based on your tolerance to scheduled job/workload downtime impacts.
