Adding Vendor Software Sources

Select Oracle Linux software sources in OS Management Hub to make them available to instances in the region. Adding software sources to the service adds them to the root compartment.

Vendor software sources are:

Used as the basis to create custom software sources.
Selected for software source profiles.
Attached to instances managed by the service.

Tip

Need the vendor software source in a non-root compartment? After adding the source to the service, replicate it to another compartment.

1. Review the guidelines for adding vendor software sources.
2. On the Software Sources list page, select the root compartment. If you need help finding the list page, see Listing Software Sources.
3. Select Add vendor software source.
  Note
  
  If the option is grayed-out, ensure you've selected the root compartment in List Scope. You can only add vendor sources to the root compartment, then you can replicate them to another compartment if needed.
4. Select the vendor software sources to add:
  
  OS vendor: Select the OS vendor. For example, Oracle.
  
  OS version: Select the OS version. For example, Oracle Linux 8.
  
  Architecture: Select the system architecture. For example, x86_64.
  
  Available software sources: Select the software sources to add.
  
  The Restricted status of a software source can be:
  
  - (dash): The software source isn't restricted. It can be used by all instance types.
  
  Unavailable in non-OCI: The software source isn't restricted, but isn't valid for use by on-premises or third-party cloud instances. For example, ol8_oci_included-x86_64 which provides packages only used by OCI instances.
  
  OCI use only: The software source is only available to OCI instances. It can't be used by on-premises or third-party cloud until you add an entitlement.
5. Select Add.
Use the oci os-management-hub software-source change-availability command and required parameters to change the availability of software sources in a region. An Available software source is accessible but not yet added to the service. A Selected software source has been added to the service and can be used by instances.

Setting the availability to Selected adds the software source for use by instances in the region.
